Howard Fischer

Former Founder and CEO of Basso Capital Management

Howard Fischer is a member of our Advisory Board.
Formerly the Founder and CEO of Basso Capital
Management (1994-2022), he led the firm’s business
operations, marketing and investment efforts, and
was also a portfolio manager for its public
convertible securities hedging practices and SPAC
arbitrage funds.


Previously, he was a convertible securities trader
at Cohen, Feit and Company, Drexel Burnham Lambert
and Smith Barney. After graduating in accounting
and finance at the Wharton School, he was a CPA at
Price Waterhouse and Solomon Brothers.

 

Currently, Howard is the Chief Evangelist on the Board of Stewards at Gratitude Railroad, an impact investment firm he co-founded in 2013 after attending the Advanced Leadership Initiative at Harvard University and serves on the investment committee for the Builders Fund, an impact growth equity fund.

 

Additionally, Howard is on the boards of Carbon Underground and 1% for the Planet, a member of the investment committee of the Jacob Burns Film Center, and an Ambassador for The Real, a men’s mental health advocacy organization. An enthusiastic member of the White Men for Racial Justice community, he is also an avid hiker, skier, cyclist, gardener and reader.
